My Deconstructed World
Inspired by my travels and a need to get out in the natural environment for personal health and wellbeing. I create vibrant, tactile mixed media artworks, which I begin by capturing images of the beautiful places that I visit and things that I see along the way. Sometimes I paint on location then respond through mixed media textiles, back in my studio. Contemplating the impact of technology on our lives and the consequence of human activity on our planet, I go through a process of deconstruction and pixilation of my painted textiles that results in an offset view representing the changing environment and disconnection between the real places that I visited and the digital images that I eventually work from.

The pixilation of subjects has become a key concept within my work. I deconstruct my responses until the details, colours and textures take on an identity of their own and subsequently work together in harmony when reconstructed; a bit like life and all the things that we experience along the way that make each one of us unique.
My exhibition 'Around the World in a Million Pixels' connects my travels, photography, painted studies and my final mixed media textile outcomes.
